The Best Tool We’ve Found for Cat Towers (But Not Every Surface)
Living With 10 Cats Means Accepting Defeat
Before we begin, it’s important to understand that with 10 cats, we are not “winning” the battle against cat hair.
We are simply trying to reduce casualties.
Every surface in this house contains fur. The couch contains fur. The rugs contain fur. The cats somehow contain even more fur. At this point, the orange cats may actually be made entirely of shed hair held together by chaos.
So when we bought the Uproot Clean Ultra Bundle, we had realistic expectations:
- It would either become our new favorite cleaning tool
- Or join the graveyard of abandoned pet hair gadgets under the sink
Surprisingly, it landed somewhere in the middle.
And honestly? That’s still pretty impressive.
What We Actually Tested It On
We tested the Uproot tools on:
- A microfiber couch
- A regular fabric couch
- Throw rugs
- Standard pile carpet
- Multiple cat towers
- Pet beds
- T-shirts and pants in assorted fabrics
- A blanket
- A fabric office chair
And yes, we have video proof because seeing is believing.
Where It Worked REALLY Well
Cat Towers
This is where the Uproot absolutely shines.
Even after vacuuming, the amount of embedded hair it pulled from our cat towers was ridiculous. It made older carpeted platforms look noticeably cleaner almost immediately.
If you have carpeted cat furniture, this alone might make the tool worth buying.
Throw Rugs & Carpet
The carpet rake works very well on rugs and carpet.
The downside?
It is EXHAUSTING if you have a lot of carpet.
The large rake absolutely works, but maintaining the right angle consistently takes effort. We actually found it easier and more effective to sit on the floor and use the “Max” size on smaller sections rather than trying to do everything standing up with the full-size rake.
It takes longer, but the results were better.
Pet Beds
Excellent results here too.
The embedded fur came up easily, especially on plush fabrics where vacuums tend to struggle.
The Microfiber Couch Situation
This was more mixed.
On our microfiber couch, the performance was actually pretty good in terms of hair removal.
However, the tool felt like it was pulling at the fabric while we used it, and that made us nervous enough that we stopped before doing large sections.
We did not notice visible damage, but the sensation alone was enough that we’d recommend extreme caution on delicate upholstery.
The same concern applied to our fabric office chair.
Personally, I would test a very small hidden area first before committing to an entire couch.
Clothing Results
The tools were not especially effective on clothing compared to dedicated lint rollers.
That said:
- They didn’t damage the clothes we tested
- They worked somewhat
- But they would not replace our normal clothing hair-removal routine
For shirts and pants, we’d still reach for a traditional lint roller first.
Which Tool Size We Preferred
Oddly enough, we ended up preferring the smaller “Pro” style tools over the giant carpet rake for most situations.
The larger tool works, but:
- It’s physically tiring
- The angle matters a lot
- It can feel awkward on some surfaces
The smaller tools gave us more control and consistently better results.
I actually own more than one now because they’ve become part of our regular cleaning routine for cat trees and rugs.
Important Warning About Fabrics
This is not a gentle tool.
It works by aggressively grabbing embedded hair, which means some fabrics may not react well.
We would absolutely avoid using it on:
- Delicate woven fabrics
- Loose upholstery
- Anything prone to snagging or pulling
We personally would not use it regularly on our couch or office chair.
But on cat towers, rugs, and carpet?
Amazing.
The Chaos Crew’s Official Opinion
Bug
Would absolutely allow us to use this directly on him despite the fact that it is very obviously not a brush.
The Other Cats
Deeply concerned that we are violating Rule #8 by removing the kitty glitter they worked so hard to distribute throughout the home.
Pumpkin
Attempted to attack the fur pile after cleaning.
Honestly, fair.
Final Verdict
The Uproot Clean Ultra Bundle is one of the best tools we’ve found for:
- Cat towers
- Rugs
- Carpet
- Pet beds
- Embedded fur in sturdy fabrics
It is NOT a miracle tool for every surface.
And it definitely requires some effort.
But for heavy-duty pet hair removal, especially in multi-cat households, it genuinely works.
Just test carefully on upholstery before going all-in.
